Route Description - Sudan - Deep South - 2-week tour
Departing from Port Sudan jetty you will embark upon a seven night safari which explores South Sudan. These routes are for experienced advanced level divers due to the depth and difficulty of certain dive sites that are along this route. Sanganeb is a National Park consisting of approximately 124 coral reefs. Its lighthouse which resembles the Eiffel Tower, sits in the middle of the sea. It is protected by Sudanese soldiers who are on duty 24/7 each for about 4 months at a time. They welcome every visitor to this spectacular area. Vertical gorges cut through the rocks of these reefs and lush corals spread across like a tropical jungle. The abundance of fish is spectacular at every one of these sites and schools of sharks can be seen gliding by. The Pinnacle is huge coral formation that rises up to about 12m. It is a very exposed area and the strong currents make is the perfect place for schooling hammerheads, oceanics and grey sharks as well as tuna and rays. These Sudanese waters offer superb visibility with crystal clear waters on occasion. The reef structure also provides spectacular corals if you can tear your eyes away from the sharks.
