Route Description - Palau Islands Spawning Special
Witness the spawning of Bumphead Parrotfish and Red Snapper
Join the Palau Siren on these special cruises and you will have a chance to witness one of the most spectacular natural events on earth, the spawning aggregations of the Bumphead Parrotfish (Bolbomeotpon Muricatum) and the Red Snapper (Lutjanus Bohar).
When diving at Full Moon, you will experience tens of thousands of Red Snappers rise up from the deep and aggregate to start their mating manoeuvres in a spectacle full of energy and excitement while they change their colours from red to white. Not surprisingly, these huge aggregations also attract the biggest predators in Palau such as Bull Sharks, Oceanic Blacktip Sharks, and Hammerheads. Watch how they hunt actively within the large school of spawning Red Snappers.
During the New Moon dives, you will witness hundreds of Bumphead Parrotfish aggregating to start their noisy climatic mating dance! With loud bangs male Bumpheads bump their heads together like buffaloes to gain superiority over females with colour changes taking place as the fish prepare to spawn – it is not a surprise they have oversized foreheads!
Route Description - Palau Siren's Diving Adventure
Dive the perfect Palau sites aboard the stunning Siren and encounter magnificent pelagics and corals.
Divers travelling to Palau can expect to see a variety of reef sharks, huge schools of barracuda, manta and eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse and batfish coupled with many critters and impressive corals. Drift dives are the norm and there are also plenty of wrecks to visit. Ulong Channel is considered the best dive in Palau: a drift dive with coral encrusted walls, sharks and other pelagic action as well as lettuce, giant clams and groupers. The Iro Wreck is a Japanese oil supply ship that was sunk during WWII by American forces, encrusted with corals and batfish hovering above, this is certainly not to be missed!
The S/Y Palau Siren was built with the same specifications as her sister yachts and can comfortably accomodate 16 guests in 8 double/twin cabins. Beer and soft drinks are included free of charge in the full board cost. This beautiful liveaboard vessel truly sets out to be the pros choice for underwater photography and videography with large rinse tanks solely for camera equipment and workstations with charging points for such equipment.
